High Altitude Balloon Experience
high altitude balloon

Come and explore the fantastic region of Earth's upper

atmosphere we call "near space". Higher than any

commercial airliner can fly, "near space" is where the aurora

borealis lights up the sky!

Students will learn basic physics, principles of aviation and engineering design.

Participants will interact with leading scientists in the field of space science, including NASA scientists and industry experts.

Students will learn about NASA's balloon program at Wallops and how scientific research is conducted using weather balloons.

Students will design and build an experiment that will be sent to near space using high altitude weather balloons.

Their balloon will be tracked using a number of technologies, and once recovered, the students will take home the video taken of the trip and analyze data from their experiment.
